How one man became the marrying kind

Poet and memoirist Mark Doty, who didn't think he was the marrying kind until he recently wed his partner of 13 years, now sees marriage not so much as an institution but as an opportunity to have the "freedom to define things for ourselves." "Remember how the Right used to like to say that same-sex marriage was a 'threat' to traditional marriage?" he writes.
